Discovered Peter Brook!
23/05/08
| Just discovered Peter Brook's paintings of his native Pennine landscape - most of them incorporating his sheep dog. They are full of humour and delight. Images of little dog faces peeping from under the stable door, the watchfulness of a dog and the daily joys of Yorkshire living make these a joy to look at. |

Jax is back!
13/03/08
Date - 23rd March last year! Jax
the Clown was here!! (She s still here on this page below) Was in
Southport - as was last year at the same time of the year! - for
the Open Photographic Society at the Atkinson Art Gallery. Off for
lunch to the Slug and Lettuce in Lord Street and there she was!!
Recognised each other instantly and caught up with Jax's recent
activities with the RSPCA. No Rosie dog this year but a cute chimp
instead. (Not quite as cute as Rosie though!) So - look out for her
in Lord Street Southport and give her a donation! Say Hi from
iDoggy too!

The work of the Young Photographers is on display along with the 61st Southport Annual Open National exhibition at the Atkinson Art Gallery Southport until 30th March. Well worth a vist or two! Warrior Knights at Parkgate
16/09/07
The Parkgate Pony Rescue Autumn
Fair again! Yes, it was a fabulous day! The Warrior Knights gave a
superb display which was so authentic that one of them actually had
real blood on his hand after the event! They were a real crowd
puller and everyone enjoyed watching them dueling with swords!
Their little old dog waited patiently in the tent while this was
going on!
Parkgate Pony Rescue Autumn Fair
16/09/07
The Autumn Fair held by the
Parkgate Pony Rescue Society was a super event and it turned out
that ponies aren't the only animals to be rescued. The little
terrier, left and centre is "Bonny" who was rescued - as was the Old
English Sheepdog on the right . What wonderful work they do - and
they do need our donations for all their ponies - -

"Lil" enjoying the Parkgate Pony Rescue Autumn Fair
15/09/07
The Parkgate Pony Rescue held
their Autumn Fair this weekend! What a fabulous day out! The ponies
were all gorgeous and the events were spectacular! Some amazing
talents were displayed by obviously dedicated young people. This is
"Lil" on a day out with her family - she is a German Shepherd dog -
and gorgeous!
Liverpool Wall Art
27/07/07
Out photographing Wall Art aka
Grafitti on a rainy day in Liverpool. (Oh no, not another one!)
When you walk around Liverpool its amazing the things you come
across - all in the space of a day. This was the first discovery -
along a street and alongside a parking lot behind the area of
London Road. The web link on this creation is

Appleby Horse Fair
12/06/07
The
Appleby Horse Fair is held each year by Royal Charter. Horses for
auction are traditionally washed in the river and there is a plenty
to see all along the main street of the town but it was also
apparent that some of the horses being pulled in to the river were
being cruelly treated by young boys who will be the future of the
event. A horse had died as a result of being pushed under the
water. The town was awash with litter and it will take a while to
recover the town to its former glory.

Ted the Dog
05/06/07
Couldn't miss this fellow! He's a
Newfoundland and he is enormous! Talk about a dog being "Man's Best
Friend!" - Ted and his proud owner were happily sharing a plate of
sausages and chips in New Brighton and you could just see how
inseparable they are. (We loved Ted so much we're also making him a
separate page - see "Photos"
Irish Eyes
31/05/07
These
two dogs were sitting patiently by the roadside in the Connemara
National Park Region of Ireland. Waiting....They certainly looked
as though this was a regular event and completely at
ease.

Corfu Town Dog
22/05/07
Lying precariously in the middle
of the pavement, apparently oblivious to passers by as he slept,
this old dog was typical of dogs seen in Corfu Town - or anywhere
on the Greek Islands. Not exactly looked after - but seemingly fed
by local shop keepers who said that he was known locally as a
character. Unlike our attitude to dogs in the UK the Greeks have
less sentimentality about their strays. (Though there were a couple
of dogs on leads which were pets and well looked
after)
Scarecrow Festival, Waddington Lancashire
11/05/07
Bank
holiday Monday we were out and about, exploring the Trough of
Bowland. We happened across the Annual Village Scarecrow
competition, held in the beautiful village of Waddington,
Lancashire - so we stopped and took a couple of pics specially for
iDoggie blog. A very apt interpretation of our "spotty dog" Home
page pic!
Amanda's Mac
28/04/07
Sitting
outside Slinky Byrnes Cafe in West Kirby this afternoon and just
saw this HUGE dog walking by. Didn't take too much notice of his
owner! - then suddenly realised it was Amanda - famed as the truest
doggy person ever. She runs Mannequin Mutts in Oxton. The big hound
is called "Mac" - he is a Bull Mastiff and is two years old and a
gentle giant of a dog. (Sorry its not a great pic Amanda - no
camera so had to use a phone!
Parisiennes for Cruise
26/04/07
Chester on a sunny Thursday
afternoon and you don't expect to see a stunning sight like this!
Cruise, one of the shops in Bridge Street, Chester was lucky enough
to have two spectacular models - an ultra smart, tall - well very,
very tall! - and extremely gorgeous girl along with her very French
poodle. The epitome of Frenchness and style. Well done! If you're
going to do a campaign this is how to do it with style!
Shane, Tara and Ebony
19/04/07
Shane is a three-legged dog who is a true hero. It was great to see him dashing in and out of the water with Tara and Ebony, both Shepherds - although Ebony's breed is uncertain she has very elegant Belgian features. Tara is a German Shepherd Their owner told us that Shane was a rescue dog and she got him well after the accident in which he lost his leg. That is an inspirational story!
It's a Pomeranian Bichon Frise
01/04/07
There is no telling what
this dog was going to be - in fact, it was difficult at first to
see which end was which because the wind was blowing her fur all
over her face! Her owner assured us that she could see and that her
name is "Bo". She is a Pomeranian/ Bichon Frise Cross. She looked
very cute and never stopped to have her photo taken! A true
definition of "grab shot"!
Jax, the RSPCA Clown!
28/03/07
Went to Southport to the Atkinson Art
Gallery to see the Southport Photographic Society's exhibition. It
was a great show. Along the Lord Street boulevard we spotted Rosie
dog first - but it was Jax, the "crazy clown" that drew our
attention. Jax is a fab girl and she is the RSPCA representative -
collecting money for the cause. She went on to tell us about her
work as the "Clown" - doing parties, weddings and anniversaries,
and giving donations to the RSPCA. Rosie is a two year old cross
Westie Yorkie and Jax said that Rosie is getting used to people,
which is important for her role in the RSPCA. Jax, drop us an email
will send you a pic

Lola
05/03/07
You
don’t often come across such a glamorous doggy as this! This little
dog is called Lola and her little pink designer coat and patent
leather pink lead are a sight to see. Her owners are wearing pink
too and its a delight to see the little girl in her pink shoelaces
and coat. She obviously loves her pet because she is feeding Lola
her ice cream.
Harley
05/03/07
Of
Harley Davidson fame, Harley is a smashing dog who should have been
up here in Blogs before now as this is the second time of
photographing this fine dog. Today she looked as though she had
been through a lot of mud and back again but it doesn’t distract
from her great features. March 21st - Here are new pics of Harley
with her clean coat!

Labradoodles
19/02/07
Monday 19th Feb. 2007. We thought
the two handsome fellows were French Poodles but they were in fact,
Labradoodles! Their owner was only too pleased to tell us about
this breed - a cross between a standard Poodle and a Golden or
Black Labrador - what a lovely gentle temperament they have - some
people just can’t resist a cuddle.
Tuesday 6th Feb. 2007. The day of the Spaniels - and we saw the old black Labrador again. It had been sunny and potentially great for photography, but the fog came down thickly and stayed. Fortunately, it cleared enough to get some pics of the spaniels and some other dogs.

The Shepherds
04/02/07
Sunday 4th Feb. Eyse, a German
Shepherd dog and Mateic, a Belgian Shepherd dog (Terveuren)....are
beautiful dogs and very clever when it comes to leaping over
fences. The best coincidence was that Mateic’s and Eyse’s people
know lovely Gerry and Steve - - It’s a small world.
Gerry and Steve named their Belgian Shepherd puppy “KYP” after Kip, my old Labrador/Collie dog. Kyp has gone on to great achievements in the world of Belgian Shepherds. Mateic’s and Eyse’s owners sent more pics of these great dogs - this time it’s Mateic leaping through the air!

Siberian Huskies
14/01/07
Saturday 14th Jan. 2007. It was
amazing to see two Siberian Huskies in harnesses, pulling a
contraption on wheels and racing down the stretch of beach. It
turned out that there were more than two, the rest were in a large
custom made van with cages, where the other dogs were waiting their
turn to race.
Greyhounds on the beach, Milo and Herbie
14/01/07
Saturday 14th Jan. 2007. Milo and
Herbie (and little friend) were the beginning of it all. It was
such a good time photographing them and talking to their owners,
John and Lorraine, that it became a dog project. Plus the fact that
taking pictures of moving dogs isn’t so easy and has become a real
challenge for us.
